Italian Snowy Adventures!

Happy Holidays, guys!

Shortly before Christmas Eve I left Sofia for an impromptu trip to the Italian Alps, and while the journey there was a little too much for me to handle (16 hours in a car – ya feel me?) the views have been worthwhile.

I started skiing at what most avid sports people would consider late in life, but nonetheless this didn’t affect the amount of love I had for the sport. So, over the last couple of seasons (minus the one where I broke my hand in Austria and the week from hell followed) I’ve been trying to up my technique and equipment, investing as much as I can financially and time wise (rationally!).

This year, on the 24th December I opened the season with a new pair of ski boots. My previous pair were second hand and while they served me exceptionally during the last four seasons, their time had come. I gave them away earlier this month and knew this would only motivate me to finally invest in the pair of Alpina’s I’d been falling for the last two months.

The difference is sizeable: upping the flex from 80 to 110 certainly had me a little out of my comfort zone to begin with. But so far so good… only trouble is I seem to stop the circulation to my feet every time I put them on. I guess it just makes it all the better when I take them off (the skiers amongst you will know that “ahhhh” feeling!).

During the next week I will be here, eating pasta and making my way down the black run without crying (hopefully. Just kidding. Okay, it happened once).

Catch you later,

H.B
