Every Little Helps

Hi Guys,

To me getting ready in the morning feels like an Olympic sport - full of highs and lows, tears and laughter, difficult moments and happy times (okay, perhaps I took it a bit far, but you get the point). The lack of time doesn’t help either and when we reach that fundamental question “what to wear” things go totally bust.
It is a struggle most girls have faced at some point in their lives (I feel you ladies... and gents!). I’ve personally had mornings where I change out of an outfit several times and still don’t like the results. At this point you have two viable options and a bonus:
Change for the 84th time and pray for the best
Slip into your go-to outfit (please, please, don’t be in the laundry basket)
Bonus: Jump into your Eeyore pyjamas and hope it starts a trend.Just kidding. Or maybe not.
Anyway, never fear because “Facebook, Ikea and a little planning ahead” are here. Wait, that’s not how the saying goes?
The truth is, I found some game changing tips out there and after some trial and error I am dying to share the two I like the most with you.
Tip Number 1: Facebook’s Epytom Stylist Bot
Just bear with me for a second.
There’s a theory that all you need is 40 items in your wardrobe to pull off any event. Yes, 40. So, naturally in the 21st century, there’s this helpful little bot on Facebook messenger, who gets to know your style and your schedule. You go through an initial pre-assessment and you tick of all the things you currently have from those 40 essentials. It then pings you a message every morning with a brand new suggestion based on these items. The best part: it takes into account the day of the week (workday vs weekend) and the temperature outside!
You can either use the free version (the one I have been using) or invest a little and reap the benefits of having several options a day.
Why I loved it: I was apprehensive whether this will work, which is probably why I was so surprised when it did. It brought new combinations of my existing outfits together, mixing them up in a way I hadnt't thought of before.
Tip Number 2: Plan ahead
I know I sound like your mother (hey, the woman gives good advice!) but this is one of those tips I took to heart, and actually decided to challenge myself to do. How it works: You plan 5 days’ worth of outfits and place on coat hangers or use a special stand. This is where Ikea stepped in to help and made the whole thing a lot more pleasant (and pretty!). They have several budget storage options to make this a treat.
This workaround saved me 4 out of 5 times in the last week (the single failure was just me having a “what-were-you-thinking” kinda moment).
Why I loved it: It's all about peace of mind in this case - they key to conquering your day is preperation and I cannot think of a better way than to start off prepared.
Tip number one works especially well when you didnt bother listening to your mother ;).
Catch you later guys,
H.B xo
