Story Time…
Back in 2016, after a recommendation from a person I cherish, an amazing couple - Sandra & Jimmie - reached out to Murmur. They had one request: take their wedding photos in July 2017. I was apprehensive and tried to deter them for one simple reason – this was an incredibly important day for them and while I loved attending and shooting weddings, I knew I was not prepared. I had never done a wedding as a single and main photographer!
It seems however, this wasn’t enough to scare them off (I’d say they’re pretty brave!)... and so on an incredibly beautiful and sunny July 6th of this year, 8 months after our first facebook conversation, there I was in Villa Ekaterina.
The venue was romantic and secluded, the scenery beautifully decorated and I (equal parts) excited and anxious.
I went as prepared as I could with 2 cameras: Nikon D3200 (Lens: 50-300mm; 50mm; 35mm; 18-55mm) & Sony A6300 (Kit Lens; 10-18mm). The Sony belongs to my brother (did you get a chance to see him overhaul a bus to travel with his 2 dogs and friends? If not here you go) and it was my first time with it; therefore, safe to say I was vehemently unprepared for its capabilities. On a side note, as much as I hate to admit it, it did much better than my Nikon from a technical perspective. Only trouble was me of course - I just couldn’t get the focus or bookeh the way I wanted.
Long story short, wedding went well – but not without hiccups: I ended up breaking one of the lenses as the big “reveal” moment of the bride was approaching (“you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me” kinda moment) and allowed myself only a second of freaking out time over it. I also forgot to sync the time stamps on the two cameras (I am an idiot, I know..) which in turn affected their order during post processing (eh, it’s a tough learning curve).
“All’s well, that ends well“ as Shakespeare said... the lens was fixed and I renamed all photos to re-sequence them - all was right with the world once again.
Oh, by the way – Sandra & Jimmie ended up loving their photos and I, in turn, the trust they placed in me.

Catch Jimmie (the groom!) here - he's a professional basketball coach and player. After the wedding they invited me back to help shoot the pictures for the site.
Catch you later guys,
